A strong showing for Road Racing Series at Daytona
12.30.2009 – In a time when America is still struggling through difficult economic times, the racers of the Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series driven by Mazda continue to flock to Daytona Int’l Speedway in the midst of the holiday season. Daytona KartWeek by Cometic Gasket has so far been another good one. Speedway Dirt entry counts are fairly strong considering the tough season the Southeast touring season just went through, and Manufacturer’s Cup’s Margay Sprint Championships again have over 500 entries and a number of classes that saw more than 35 racers attempt to make the final field.

The tradition continues for Road Racing Series at Daytona
12.28.2009 – Tracks on the Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series driven by Mazda schedule tend to change from year to year. Facilities like New Hampshire, Summit Point and Charlotte were once staple events on the Road Racing tour, only to be replaced by new or revamped tracks such as Kershaw, VIR and New Jersey. However, Daytona Int’l Speedway – with exception to Indianapolis the most famous track in America – continues as the host of Race No. 1 for each new Road Racing season. Daytona has been hosting the Daytona Championships for the National Road Racing Series for over 30 years, and each year road racers from all over the eastern half of the country and even some from the West Coast head to the Sunshine State for another running of this esteemed event. While leaving family and home for nearly a week around the holidays may sound crazy to some, many kart racers admit they’d have no idea what to do with themselves if it wasn’t for Daytona KartWeek by Cometic Gasket.

WKA hoping new Daytona track
marks new beginning for Speedway Dirt Series

12.28.2009 – It’s no secret that the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series has struggled as of late to gain entry counts and racer support in the series that once was the strongest of all five WKA national tours. But back in the late summer / early fall months of 2009, a renewed sense of enthusiasm spread throughout the world of oval-track dirt-kart racing when Daytona Int’l Speedway announced its plans to build a brand-new, state-of-the-art quarter-mile dirt oval on the grounds of the World Center of Racing.

The annual Margay Sprint Championships will again take center stage at Daytona’s seven-tenths-mile infield kart course, located inside turns 3 and 4 of the 2.5-mile superspeedway.

12.28.2009 – After a cool and cloudy parking and registration day Sunday, karters woke to a clear and sunny Monday morning in Daytona Beach, Fla.
