CONCORD, N.C. – A special ceremony was called this past Sunday morning at the GoPro Motorplex, where the WKA Mazda / Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series was closing its 2013 season.
All drivers and team members were called to the pit lane for what was titled a “mandatory drivers meeting.”
The crowd of onlookers, including many members of Marie’s family from the Concord, N.C., area, witnessed WKA President Rick Dresang, Pastor Todd Shaw, former WKA Treasurer and 2010 Hall of Fame inductee Missy Nelson-Tate and WKA Senior Consultant and 2005 Hall of Fame inductee Van Gilder induct Marie into the Hall of Fame and also recognize her 20 years of service to the WKA office and national and regional karting events throughout the country.
The ceremony was very special to many racers and WKA workers, many of whom have spent the better part of two decades working with Marie and race events.
Marie joins an esteemed list of kart racers, mechanics, businesspeople and contributors in the WKA Hall of Fame.
