CONCORD, N.C. – Following up on the Pit Board June 20 regarding the newest requirements of the Parilla Leopard class in the Mazda / Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series moving forward, WKA officials will be requiring similar information from competitors in the four classes that are required to run the same tires both competition days in a Man Cup racing weekend.
Starting with this weekend’s MKP Nationals at Michiana Raceway Park in North Liberty, Indiana, competitors in the Yamaha Rookie Sportsman, Cadet, Komet Sportsman, and Yamaha Sportsman classes will be required to list the serial numbers on their tires on an entry sheet they will receive at registration. Once the sheet has been filled out, competitors in these four classes will be required to bring the sheet with them to the grid as they enter for time trials for their respective classes.
A select WKA Grid Steward will be on hand to collect the sheets, which will then be turned over to a WKA Tech Official. Drivers failing to submit their sheet upon entrance to the grid will be disallowed until paperwork has been submitted.
This process will replace the post qualifying ritual of branding tires for these classes. However, for competitors in other classes who wish to utilize the same tire both days, but are not required, the branding station will still be open.
