CONCORD, N.C. – With one race in the books for the 2012 WKA RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series, Animal Heavy Money Race competitors, as well as the entire series, now brace for the “Darlington of Sprint tracks,” the Lamar County Speedway in Georgia, more appropriately know as “ Barnesville,” April 27-29 for the Michigan Kart Supply Natonals.

The second stop on the tour for the nation’s top 4-cycle sprint competitors is sure to challenge the many who have not yet run on the very tight course, a far cry from the 1,000-foot backstretch at Jacksonville. More than ever, major focus will be placed on the Friday Practice Day, giving many their first view of the historic race course filled with more legendary stories than the pits can hold.

The next chapter in the storied career of the facility will take place Friday evening as the Animal Heavy drivers will battle for bragging rights, looking to become the first winner of the highly acclaimed “Friday Night Money Race,” an event that has taken on a personality all to its own these last few years.

With 23 drivers lining up for race No. 1 at Jacksonville, the series’ second stop should provide similar numbers. Led by Florida native and round one winner Sean Meier, the race has taken on a very good mix of talented veterans and young guns. Hard pushed in race #1 by Dylan Zobkiw, another Money Race veteran still looking for that elusive first victory, Meier’s list of challengers include multi-time Money Race winner Gary Lawson, along with young guns Dakota Bell, Joshua Stiefel, Tyler Sandmeyer and Jiummy Heavlow, not to mention the return of 2011 Jax Money Race winner Chris Wells, absent from race one this year due to other commitments.

The series enjoyed the return of past Gold Cup participants Mike Greiner and Richie Kuhn to Jacksonville, and looks forward to seeing many from Jacksonville carry their momentum to the series second event. Activities get underway Friday with practice beginning at 8:30am, running till 5pm, with the Money race slated to crank up immediately following the full day of practice.

Anyone wishing to participate as a contingency sponsor by providing money or product can contact WKA’s Buddy Long at (704) 455-1606, extension 19, or This email address is being protected from spambots.
