WKA Trustees Approve Changes To The
Raptor And Animal Specifications
11.30.2007 - At a special meeting held Tuesday, November 27, the WKA Board of Trustees approved several changes to Briggs Raptor and Animal engine specifications. They are relatively minor, and most competitors are already in compliance. Following are the changes that will be effective December 26, 2007.
Raptor:
Add to Section 701.6 Carburetor: One or two gaskets may be used. The thickness of one gasket or the combined thickness of two gaskets shall not exceed 0.135.
Animal:
Add new Section 704.4.7 Choke Cover: Pin punching is allowed to tighten choke cover. Silicone or other sealer is not allowed.
Add to Section 704.7 Fuel Pump: Fuel pump must be single diaphragm type only no double or triple diaphragm pumps allowed. Fuel pump must be mounted on the engine. Pulse line from upper oil fill cap to the fuel pump may be no longer than 15. Fuel pump pulse must be 1/4 or smaller inside diameter. Return line from pump to fuel tank is not allowed.
Add 704.42.1 Fuel Line: Must be 1/4 or smaller inside diameter.
The 2008 WKA Tech Manual also includes the following change that will be observed beginning at Daytona. .
As previously announced, the WKA 2008 Technical Manual, Section 704.17 Valves specifies that the minimum intake and exhaust valve length shall be 3.372 + or - .010. Because not all WKA members have received their 2008 Tech Manual yet, the Trustees have referred this rule back to the 4-cycle Tech Committee and asked its members to propose a new effective date.
The Trustees also approved a change in the intake and exhaust max valve lift at the retainer from 0.255 to 0.252. The change in valve length and maximum lift at the retainer will be made at the same time, and WKA will announce the effective date with sufficient advance notice to allow our competitors to make any required changes to their engines.
