Headline Successful Return To Charlotte
03.06.2008 - Following a one year hiatus, 2-cycle racing made a triumphant return to the legendary Lowes Motor Speedway for the SSC East/CRG WinterNationals. Under brilliant sunny skies, 567 entries jammed the speedways infield area for race #2 of the George Kugler/ Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series driven by Mazda.
The top ten in each class was a virtual whos who in 2-cycle racing, led by the return of Pennsylvanias Travis Firing. After a short stint out of racing, the Team Margay driver ripped through the competition, checking in for 3 wins, including the Horstman Manufacturing HPV Lite class, the UEMSI HPV Heavy division, and the ultra competitive Franklinkart.com Tag class on Saturday.
Fellow veteran racer Corey Reeves collected two wins over the weekend in the Mike Doty Racing Yamaha Heavy class, as well as the top honors in the Precision Karting/Yellow- Fin Performance Yamaha Senior Sportsman Lite division.
3 double class winners were found in the Junior ranks over the weekend, led by Austin Selfs wins in the Adkins Speed Center HPV Junior Sportsman and KartLift Yamaha Junior Sportsman classes. Jake Cole checked in for two wins, sweeping the Cadet category both days. Not to be forgotten was Spencer Pigot, a double winner in the Yamaha Junior Supercan Lite and Heavy classes.
With two mammoth events under their belts, Daytona and Charlotte, the series takes a 3 month breather, preparing for the Racersites.com Grand Nationals June 13-15 at the Badger Raceway in Dousman, Wisconsin. For complete results from Charlotte, click here.
