With karting across the United States halted due to COVID-19, teams, competitors, series, organizations, mechanics, team owners and more jumped on the sim racing bandwagon and now it is the World Karting Association’s turn. Set for their first event this evening, the A-Maxx Racing WKA eSports Racing Series Presented by Summit Racing Equipment will go green at the famed Charlotte Motor Speedway as competitors compete on the ROVAL tonight!
“This is our first attempt at online racing but so far, everything has been relatively smooth,” explained WKA President Kevin Williams. “We have decided to utilize the iRacing platform and the Skip Barber race car as when our karters advance through the ranks and into open wheel equipment, this will be one of the first options that they are presented. The iRacing platform is reliable and very popular, and because of this decision, we have been able to sell out at a total of 40 entries.”

The A-Maxx Racing WKA eSports Series Presented by Summit Racing Equipment will run a twenty-minute open practice for all competitors, five-minute qualifying and a main event where laps will be calculated by course distance. Competitors are free to practice throughout the week leading up to the race day as much or as little as they like.

About Louie’s P&R Italian Market and Deli, Herrin, Illinois: Established in the late 1890s, this community fixture was originally named D&R Market after principle stockholders Frank Detomasi and Ernest Ruggeri. The store was renamed P&R in 1950 when Detomasi sold his share to Charlie Parigi.
