With the first event in the Charlotte Summer Club Series now behind them, World Karting Association (WKA) is looking forward to round two. Taking feedback from teams and competitors at the conclusion of the first weekend of action, series officials have made notable changes to a few areas of the inaugural program.
“I want to thank the families, teams and competitors who came out to support our first ever Charlotte Summer Series event. We learned a lot and I took in a lot of family feedback regarding a more packaged entry fee that includes paddock space and driver wrist band, more time between practice runs and more time added to ensure people have time to work on their chassis between sessions,” expressed Mike Tetreault. “I hope these adjustments will help meet our competitors needs going forward in our schedule, and we look forward to another exciting event as we continue to fine tune the program in the first year.”
Adjusting the schedule to allow more time for drivers competing in two classes, WKA has spread out the schedule that will allow competitors to work on their equipment between practice, qualifying, heat races and the main events. Additionally, WKA has adjusted the registration that includes almost everything that is needed for a driver to compete at the event including their pit spot.
Tetreault added, “The goal is to make this a stress-free program and help grow the sport of karting in the Carolinas, specifically the Charlotte area. We will continue to adjust as needed until we have a simple and easy program. Feedback is always welcome as this is your WKA.”
As WKA moves towards the next event, they also want to remind teams and competitors that they are not in the tire business and will only have tires on hand for people that order tires with their online entry. WKA encourages that drivers order their tires from a Vega tire dealer. Please email mike@worldkarting.com and he will direct you to the Vega tire dealer in your area or an at the track vendor that you can order tires in advance from and have them waiting for you at the track. It is the responsibility of the drivers to secure the correct Vega compound tires for the event and as per the series rules, tires can be new or used for qualifying but the tires used for qualifying must be the tires that are utilized in the race.
