Momentum Running High for the Return of WKA Gold Cup

With the already announced prize money for overall winners in all classes, the Friday Night Money races, Ground Shaker Shootout, and the Kart Lounge Sponsored 206 Knockout, the World Karting Association (WKA) Gold Cup is continuing to gain traction as they race towards their first event of 2022. Always for the karter, WKA has made amendments to their Sunday schedule to accommodate more racers on Sunday who will finish another racing event Saturday night.

“Our goal is to always build karting and never hurt it,” expressed WKA’s Mike Tetreault. “The WKA Gold Cup is going to be fun, and we want to make sure that each and every racer has the opportunity to compete.”

With another series racing in the area concluding on Saturday night, WKA is modifying its Sunday, June 25 timeline to start later and welcome anyone who wants to come in and race in the Sunday show of the WKA Gold Cup. With Sunday featuring a total separate day of racing with practice, qualifying, heat race and final, an entry fee for each class set at $105.00.

Tetreault added “Anyone who shows up to race Sunday will not have any pit spot costs and will only need a $15.00 event band. Bring your new or used Vega Reds and you’re all set. Our online entry is set to allow the drivers to enter both days or just a single day.”

The WKA Gold Cup offers Kid Kart, two different Cadet and Junior 206 classes giving these drivers more classes to run with a simple slide change, two different 206 Senior classes with different weights, and two different Masters classes along with the WKA Gold Cup Vintage class. This is an affordable opportunity for anyone who wants to come out on a Sunday to race. The WKA Gold Cup gates will open at 6:30am that day with registration opening at 7am sharp!

Anyone wanting to move in Saturday night to race on Sunday would need to email mike@worldkarting.com to organize.

To also help the karting world with finances and cash flow, WKA is going to offer its deferred entry program. This program lets the entrants enter by putting in their credit card details, but it won’t be charged until the competitor arrives at registration, checks in, and chooses their payment method.

Tetreault continued, “Our deferred entry program is a huge help to get our scoring system set up to get people to pre-enter. This also allows the competitor to enter without obligation. If you don’t make it, your entry just vanishes from the system, you won’t be charged.”

In more Gold Cup news, WKA is pleased to announce a raffle for all pre-entered competitors. Sponsored by TS Racing, three winners will receive a ‘Gas Cash’ give away at the drivers meeting totaling $200.00!
