World Karting Association Revamps Manufacturers Cup Program to Better Serve Members; Online Entry Open Now

Always looking to improve their program, the World Karting Association (WKA) has instituted a number of changes for their Manufacturers Cup program. With the elimination of some classes, addition of others and increased track time for some, the new format will take place at the upcoming Charlotte Karting Challenge event April 15-18 at the famed Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“These changes will reward our bigger classes as well as provide more track time for all of our members,” explained WKA Chairman of the Board Mike Tetreault. “We are anticipating a huge turnout at our Charlotte events and can’t wait to get started.”

Changes listed below:

206 Senior

  • Senior will now have two days of racing (days two and three)
  • Qualifying, three heats and main event over two days
  • Weight change to 370lbs from 360lbs
  • One entry price for both days of racing action
  • Class purse announced:
    • $500 to the race winner
    • $250 for second
    • One set of Vega Tires for third

206 Junior

  • Junior will now have two days of racing (days two and three)
  • Qualifying, three heats and main event over two days
  • One entry price for both days of racing action
  • Class purse announced:
    • $500 to the race winner
    • $250 for second
    • One set of Vega Tires for third

Kid Kart Comer

  • Kid Kart Comer will now run on the first day of the event weekend including qualifying, prefinal and final

Kid Kart Briggs

  • Kid Kart Briggs will be added to the WKA Manufacturers Cup class structure and will run on the third day of the event weekend including qualifying, prefinal and final

206 Cadet

  • 206 Cadet will run on the second day of the event weekend including qualifying, two heat races and final

Mini Swift

  • Mini Swift will run on the third day of the event weekend including qualifying, two heat races and final

Ignite Junior

  • Ignite Junior will have two separate race days during day one and two of each event weekend; Each race day will include qualifying, prefinal and final

F100 Junior and F100 Senior

  • Both F100 Junior and F100 Senior will have two days of competition during the first two days of the event weekend including qualifying, three heats and final over the two days
  • Class purse announced:
    • $1000 to the race winner
    • $250 for second
    • One set of Vega Tires for third

Other Important Information

  • All classes are National Championship classes and will be racing for double points at the final event of the 2021 season at New Castle Motorsports Park
  • The below mentioned classes will count three races towards their overall series points championship (Daytona, Charlotte and New Castle):
    • Kid Kart
    • Micro Swift
    • Micro ROK
    • Mini Swift
    • 206 Cadet
    • F100 Junior
    • X30 Junior
    • F100 Senior
    • X30 Senior
    • 206 Senior
    • 206 Junior
  • The below mentioned classes will count six races towards their overall series points championship (Daytona (2), Charlotte (2) and New Castle (2):
    • Ignite Senior
    • Ignite Master
  • The below mentioned classes will count five races towards their overall series points championship (Daytona (1), Charlotte (2) and New Castle (2):
    • Ignite Junior
  • The below mentioned classes will count two races towards their overall series points championship (Charlotte and New Castle):
    • Kid Kart Briggs
    • The WKA Manufacturers Cup Grand Nationals at the New Castle Motorsports Park is a DOUBLE POINTS event

“Offering all the available classes at Daytona allowed WKA to offer a place for everyone,” added WKA President Kevin Williams. “This change is a result of careful consideration to emerging classes and gives the racers several options to participate at great tracks like Charlotte and New Castle, where they may not have had that chance before.”
